MEMS Business Forum 2013
Shared on April 16, 2013 written by MEMS Journal and MEPTEC under Upcoming M2M Events
Can the MEMS market grow to $100 billion and 1 trillion MEMS devices per year by 2025? We believe this can happen. Already, the MEMS market has been one of the few shining stars among its peers in the overall semiconductor market sector, and the economy on the whole. Currently, the total market for MEMS devices is around $9.5-10 billion per year and it is expected to grow at 12 to 15% for the next few years. Recent MEMS Journal research has shown that the MEMS market will reach an inflection point in the 2016-2017 time frame that will dramatically change the economics of MEMS production to further reduce costs and significantly increase the utilization of MEMS devices throughout major industrial segments. So what are the emerging “killer apps” enabled by MEMS devices? And what are the next set of MEMS technologies that will enable new applications? These are the key questions that will drive the discussion at this seminal event — MEMS Business Forum 2012. This event will feature ...

Military Smart Grids & Microgrids Symposium
Shared on March 18, 2013 written by Smart Grids & Microgrids under Upcoming M2M Events
The world microgrid market topped $4 billion in 2010, and according to a recent Congressional study the military microgrid market alone is projected to increase by 375% from 2010-2020. Microgrids, localized groupings of power generation, storage and load management units, can operate, if necessary or by design, independently from the larger power grid. Because of their size and flexibility, they are able to incorporate alternative sources of energy more easily and promise to provide increased reliability and security, critically important for both military installations (fixed and mobile) and for homeland security/the national power grid. Emerging “smart grid” technologies, including advanced metering, transmission efficiencies, smart switches, enhanced demand response capabilities, distribution automation, energy management systems, electric vehicle integration, microelectronics, integrated communication systems and others, may pave the way for the creation of “intelligent,” self-mana...
