Ruggedized Ultra-Mobile Computer
Introducing the Toughbook U1
Field workers are migrating to knowledge workers—so it is time to put the power of a
PC into the palm of their hand. Introducing the Panasonic Toughbook U1, Panasonic’s new
entry into the UMPC field which sets the bar for ruggedized and industrialized ultra-mobile
computers. Highlights of the Toughbook U1 will include a MIL Spec 810E rating, and an IP54
classification for durability; 2 batteries on-board making the run time 9 + hours, a full-blown
operating system (at this time Windows XP) so this palm-top can run regular windows applications;
and the option to have integrated internally features like barcode scanners, GPS, WWAN modems,
and RFID. The global launch of this product is June 26th, 2008 in NYC. The unit is supposed to be
in production in September. USAT will be authorized to sell the Toughbook U1 as soon as it is in
production.
