IndexSierra Wireless is pleased to announce General Availability of ALEOS 4.4.5 for the GX400, GX440, ES440, and LS300. This release addresses a number of issues discovered during a recent security audit of ALEOS along with other important enhancements:

  • Resolved recent vulnerabilities in 3rd party components (OpenSSL, SSH, tcpdump, libpcap, OpenVPN, Linux Kernel, DNSmasq and more)
  • Added checks for potentially insecure settings during upgrade
  • Penetration tested by independent 3rd party

Sierra Wireless strongly recommends that all customers upgrade to this release at their earliest opportunity.

Please note that upgrading will make the following changes to the device configuration:

  • If user has a default password: Telnet/SSH and server-initiated MSCI will be disabled on the WAN interface
  • If sconsole has a default password: The account will be disabled until a password is set
  • The viewer account has been removed
